It's time to embrace the opportunity to live a purpose-driven life.
Hey, I'm Kathy!👋
My journey in entrepreneurship began the day I looked up to my parents at the age of eight and said "I am going to be a dance teacher when I grow up!"

From that day on, I poured every ounce of energy I had into becoming the best dancer, and eventually best dance teacher, that I could be. There was no backup plan, no "what if"... just a dream to share this love of dance with the world.

Fast forward a few decades, and I am still teaching dance professionally and fulfilling my purpose to inspire others to live a more positive and empowered life.
We're all meant for more.
During this 20+ year journey building a career in the arts, I've been honored to help launch the careers of hundreds of dancers and educators.

Now, my focus is on empowering female entrepreneurs across all industries to achieve the level of success they are seeking. It's time to love your career again!

YOU are capable of taking massive action in your life! Having a success coach by your side through the journey will help you to get out of your own way and build the confidence it takes to truly make your mark on the world.
Kathy's full bio
Short story long, here's my full official bio
Kathy King is a Metro Detroit-based certified entrepreneurship coach, dance educator, and mentor.
With a lifetime spent in the dance studio, Kathy began her professional dance career at the age of 15 performing for local music artists, gaining invaluable early experience in what it takes to build a freelance career in the arts.
After spending time living in Los Angeles, and eventually landing back in Detroit to study at Wayne State University, Kathy founded the professional nonprofit company Michigan Dance Project in 2006, touring the Midwest for eight seasons and launching the careers of dozens of dancers. During this time, she also developed and launched the Brighton Dance Festival. BDF started as a grassroots summer event for local dancers, and bloomed into a premier international dance event for dancers ages 10 through adult. Kathy has since closed the doors on both organizations to pursue entrepreneurship coaching and consulting full time, but she will never hang up her teaching hat and plans to teach dance as long as she physically can! Locally, Kathy teaches dance regularly at Michelle's Academy of Dance & Performing Arts Center in Brighton, MI, and is a frequent master teacher at dance studios statewide. You can also find her touring nationally as executive director and brand manager to the Los Angeles-based Artists in Training Dance Convention.
In 2013, Kathy was named as a Crain's Detroit Business "20 in their 20s" for her work as a dance educator and director in Metro-Detroit, and in 2019 she received a "Special Tribute" honor from the State of Michigan for her contributions to the community through her work with Brighton Dance Festival. Kathy also spent several years as an adjunct lecturer and guest artist at Eastern Michigan University's School of Music & Dance, and served as head coach to the competitive dance team at Cleary University where she was awarded the 2020 NAIA WHAC Conference Dance Team Coach of Character.

Kathy's passion for the arts has earned her seats on several nonprofit boards of directors, including the Arthur Secunda Museum, Brighton Center for the Performing Arts, and Jodie Randolph Dance Company.
She has also been featured as a speaker at the DanceLife Teacher Conference, the International Dance Entrepreneurs Association, the Dance Business Owner Summit, the Brighton Light House, the SESI Midwestern Entrepreneur Conference, and the Hartland Chamber of Commerce's Women in Business event.

Kathy holds several certifications in life and business coaching, including a Certification in Women's Entrepreneurship from Cornell University. She serves as the facilitator of the Holistic Networking Group at Brighton Light House, where she is also a community ambassador. BLH is also home to her annual Empowered Entrepreneurs Coaching Program, along with frequent community workshops for local female entrepreneurs.

Beyond the excitement of her career activities, Kathy is also an avid home cook, caregiver to her mama, adventurer with her husband and an optimism enthusiast!
